I thought the data from Google’s keyword tool was always bang on. After all, they should be giving out accurate info. Well, that’s not always the case.
The data returned isn’t accurate. It would have been correct at some point though. I accidentally discovered the answer to that puzzle.
I decided to go for a keyword with about five thousand competing pages. I was feeling confident enough to rank well with this one. I put out probably thousands of articles.
Soon after I noticed Google telling me there was about 9000 competing pages now. My heart sank, I thought my task was gonna be twice as hard now. Turned out though that an awful lot of the extra competing pages had my articles on them!
If I had saw 9000 competing sites I would have passed this keyword by. Turns out I was competing mostly against myself as my article was the cause of these sites ranking. Not a bad situation to be in if you ask me.
